Gear Off Road wheels are built for performance, durability, and style, featuring A356 Aluminum Alloy construction and a premium finish with a protective Gloss Clear Coat. However, proper cleaning is essential to maintain the look and function over time. Using the wrong products or techniques can harm the finish, causing dullness or corrosion. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the best methods for cleaning brake dust/dirt off your wheels, offering expert tips and recommended products to keep your Gear Off Road wheels looking #RoadReadyAttentionWorthy!

Tips Before You Begin:

  • – Many wheel cleaners are acid-based so be sure to choose one that is safe for your specific wheel. Acid-based cleaners can damage your wheels if left to sit for too long so keep an eye on them!
  • – Let your vehicle cool before you start. Cleaning a hot wheel can lead to scratches, stains, etc. as the chemicals in the solution will dry much quicker.
  • – Use one bucket of water with a dirt trap dedicated solely to cleaning your wheels to prevent dirt from scratching your vehicle’s paint.
  • – Work on one wheel at a time to prevent your cleaner from drying.

Materials:

  • – Bucket
  • – Water
  • – Brushes
  • – Dirt Trap/Guard
  • – Wheel Cleaner
  • – Tire Shine
  • – Microfiber Towels
  • – Sponge

Steps in Cleaning:

  • – Thoroughly rinse your wheels to ensure all excess dirt is removed. It is also important to keep your wheel wet to prevent the solution from drying down!
  • – Spray your wheel with your preferred wheel cleaner. Be sure to choose a product that is safe for our wheel and read the directions carefully to avoid any damage!
  • – Using your soft bristled brush dedicated for wheels, gently scrub to get rid of any lingering dirt, dust, or brake debris. Be sure to get into each of the barrels of the wheel for that extra clean look.
  • – Scrub each lug nut hole and smaller, detailed areas where remaining dirt could be trapped.
  • – Once finished, thoroughly rinse off the cleaning solution with water and use a microfiber towel to dry.
  • – It is time for the best part; tire shine! This is the cherry on top when cleaning your wheels. Apply a generous amount of tire shine to your sponge and gently work it into your tire to give it a nice, even coat.
